Builder/Architect
first featured the Baldanza family in the March 1995 edition entitled "Bringing It All Back Home." That article showcased the "Maggy's
Farm" subdivision in River Vale, a custom community of 18 houses.
Since then, Baldanza Construction has been busy with developments in
River Vale, Montvale and Franklin Lakes, as well as building homes
for
clients on their lots in Northern Bergen County.
Baldanza Construction recently completed Tall Oaks in Montvale. Lou
and Linda live literally around the corner from the site, and Charles
grew up playing on the property. The new homes sit on a high bluff overlooking
the scenic Pascack Brook, and the design and positioning of the homes
enhance the beautiful natural setting. The project was entirely custom
built.
Baldanza Construction is now concentrating on Oak Haven Farm in Franklin
Lakes and has recently purchased lots at Bear Rock, a delightful enclave
of estate-sized wooded lots surrounded by open space in the Taylortown
section of Montville. Lou says that "this the type of site and
location that has just about disappeared from Bergen County. It is
an
excellent opportunity for our buyers to build the houses of their dreams."
An obviously proud Dad, Lou says that "Charles works with the
customers on their plans, and coordinates the construction meticulously.
He is
a hands-on type of guy. One day he will be on the dozer grading a lot,
the next day doing computer plan designs or coordinating finish details
with our subcontractors. He literally takes a plan from conception
to
completion."
Linda chooses the products used in model homes, giving personal attention
to each detail. For example, Linda and Vera Olsen of Hawthorne Kitchens
work together on the kitchen designs for the models, just as the clients
work with their kitchen designer. "I like to picture myself and
my family living in each home when I make my decisions. I want our home
to be beautiful, but also practical. I work closely with our clients,
making myself available for advice and support if needed. I've made,
on many homes, all the selections our clients will have to make during
the building process, so I make my experience available to them."
As one of the buyers at Tall Oaks, says, "I love my new home;
it's everything I always dreamed of. All three of the Baldanzas gave
me so
many ideas and so much encouragement, building my home was actually
pleasurable."
The Baldanzas plan to keep doing what they love to do. Charlie, a 1994
graduate of Bard College, is proud to keep the family building tradition
alive. "My Dad, Grandfather, and Great-grandfather were all home
builders. I enjoy driving by a house my Grandfather built years ago
and knowing that the house was built with care. I studied art and architecture
in college, and I worked in Italy with master woodworkers. I decided
to build homes as my career because there is something special about
our business. When we meet our clients for the first time, they often
give me the idea for a house verbally, and then the idea grows and
develops,
then the house becomes a reality, and we see the dream come true. Home
building is a great way of life.
